The Ideal Body Shape
Women’s body shape can generally be categorized into four, namely, (1) Hourglass, (2) Pear, (3) Apple, and (4) Banana. Let’s talk about them in detail!
The hourglass is the most ideal of all body shapes. As the name suggests, it is characterized by being well-proportioned with regard to the size of the upper (chest area) and lower (waist area) body. With the hourglass, the well-proportioned body is bridged by a narrow waist shown on the right.
Women with the hourglass body shape are inclined to gain weight proportionally around their bodies, specifically with the hips and the chest area. Therefore, women with this body shape should focus on both cardio and resistance exercise.

The pear body shape is characterized by a wider lower body in relation to the upper. Hips generally are wider than that of the shoulder, and bust size tend to be smaller. The pear is illustrated in the left.
Women with the pear body shape tend to accumulate weight in the lower part of their bodies. Therefore, women with this body shape should focus on slimming down the lower half of their bodies, with exercises such as aerobics, which slims down the lower body and increase resistance to the upper body.
The apple body shape is the opposite of the pear. It is characterized by a larger upper body in relation to the lower. Women with a body shape of an apple generally have fuller chests and slimmer waists. The apple is illustrated in the right.
Women with the apple body shape are more prone to have larger stomach girth than other body shapes. Therefore, women with this body shape should focus on losing body fat that accumulates in the torso area. Aerobic trainings are advisable, but working out the lower body is also as important in order to keep the whole body proportionate.
Last but not least, the banana body shape. This body shape is characterized by being modelesque. Wome. with this body shape are born to be high fashion models. There is no significant difference in proportions of the upper and lower body. Shown on the left is the banana body shape.
Women with the banana body shape accumulate wait around the stomach and back sides whilst retaining lean arms and legs. To maintain weight for women with this body shape, a focus on cardio exercises is advisable, in addition to keeping the symmetrical body in shape.
